![]() | Mason-Dixon Knitting: The Curious Knitters' Guide: Stories, Patterns, Advice, Opinions, Questions, Answers, Jokes, and Pictures by Kay Gardiner
Buy new: $19.77 / Used from: $6.29 Mason-Dixon is fun to read, and it has great, straightforward patterns. The projects are simple, fun, impressive, and modern.
There are great blankets, kids knits, knits for the knitter, and household items. I think I've knit more stuff from this book than from any other.

![]() | Vogue Knitting: The Ultimate Knitting Book by Vogue Knitting Magazine Editors

![]() | Interweave Knits
Buy new: $25.00 Knitting magazines include more information than some books! you might want to look through some at a bookstore or library before committing to a year of one as the subscriptions are not inexpensive. Interweave Knits is my favorite. It has more traditional, beautiful knitting patterns, and they feature some of my favorite designers like Eunny Jang and Jared Flood.
